INCAM is the culmination of efforts made by Applied Mechanics departments in the country, to provide a technical platform for discussion among researchers in the broad area of Applied Mechanics. Continuing from the previous successful conferences INCAM 2013 and INCAM 2015 held at IIT Madras and IIT Delhi, respectively, it is hoped that INCAM 2017 will have sufficient enthusiasm and will pave way for many more such technical enclaves in future. INCAM 2017 is being organized by the Department of Applied Mechanics, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad.
Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad is situated on the banks of river Ganges in the city of Allahabad. MNNIT Allahabad is declared as Institute of National Importance, by act of parliament in 2007. It is one among the leading institutes of national importance in technological education and applied research with total commitment to quality and excellence in academic pursuits.
It was established as one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) of India in the year 1961 as a joint enterprise of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh and as an associated College of University of Allahabad. On June 26, 2002 MNREC was transformed into National Institute of Technology and Deemed University fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The Institute offers nine B.Tech and nineteen M.Tech degree programs (including part-time) along with MCA, MBA, M.Sc. and Master of Social work (M.S.W.) programs. The institute also registers candidates for the Ph.D. degree. The Institute has been recognized by the Government of India as one of the centers for the Quality Improvement Program for M.Tech. and Ph.D.
The Department of Applied Mechanics was established in 1965. It was initially named as "Department of Applied Mechanics, Hydraulic and Hydraulic Machines", which was replaced by new name "Applied Mechanics Department" in 2003. The Department offers courses at undergraduate level to different engineering descipline on Engineering Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machines, Structural Analysis, Material Science and Engineering etc. The department runs four Post Graduate (M.Tech.) programs namely, Applied Mechanics, Material Science & Engineering, Fluids Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. The department also offers Ph.D. programs in these areas.
“Indian Society for Applied Mechanics (ISAM)” is an All India registered body under “The Tamilnadu Society Registration Act, 1975”. The society was registered on 17th October 2016 and its registration number is 539/2016. The Objective of the Society is to advance the knowledge relating to Applied/Engineering Mechanics and in particular:-
To foster the diffusion of useful knowledge pertaining to the Science and Engineering of Mechanics of Solids, Mechanics of Fluids, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Materials and Design Engineering amongst the members of the Society.
To bring together Engineers and Scientists engaged in any or all aspects of Applied Mechanics, for pooling the experiences and knowledge to solve technical problems of the society.
To promote the intellectual welfare of the members of the Society by organizing periodical meetings for discussing and publishing scientific papers on subjects connected with applied mechanics.
To do all such other acts and things as may be necessary or desirable to further the objectives of the Society.
INCAM 2017 and ISAM: INCAM 2017 is the first activity being organized under the guidance of ISAM.
